Railways Bill

Contribution

When one looks at the priorities, at the moment, if there is a problem you can appeal to the ORR and it deals with it properly, one hopes, but if Great British Railways decides that somewhere further up country, not necessarily in Devon or Cornwall but further up country, it would rather start a new passenger service on the line which means that there will be only one path for freight to this particular lithium-ion factory a day and that does not work, then the company is lost. It cannot continue to operate. The same comment applies, of course, to many of the cargoes that noble Lord, Lord Lansley, has just mentioned.
