Railways Bill

My reasonable and modest amendment does not say that unions cannot have a strike. It says simply that, before they give formal notice of industrial action, they have to speak to the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee and other organisations representing disabled people, explain the action and its likely effect on services, allow at least seven days for representations to come back about the impact, and consider those representations before they go ahead and have the strike. In any other environment, the trade unions would think it was a marvellous idea if businesses had to obey these strictures, so it is reasonable that they should apply to them also. I commend this amendment to the Committee.
