Railways Bill

Contribution

Through our Roadmap to an Accessible Railway, published last November, we have committed to strengthening the role of disabled passengers in decision-making by 2027 through enhanced regional accessibility panels, overseen by a national accessibility panel, which will be stood up in the near future. This marks a cultural and structural shift, moving beyond consultation towards a meaningful, system-wide partnership with disabled people at every level. In addition, as I agreed with accessibility stakeholders, the GBR licence will require GBR to engage actively with accessibility groups. This requirement will be monitored and enforced by the ORR.
