Amendments 188 and 189 cover monitoring and reporting. Data has always struggled to generate much excitement. However, bigger and better provision and the joining up of data were other key recommendations from our report to better target initiatives on social mobility. Better data is the bedrock on which all the other initiatives rest. These amendments would improve how data is managed and collected at the local level, all linking up to the reporting that the commission undertakes, to enable better intervention on issues around social mobility.
