Speaking in the House of Lords on 30 January 2026
Debate
Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) BillContribution
We have had positive responses to the issues raised in Clause 1. Rather than noble Lords simply saying they disagree, there have been positive responses by way of amendments. I suspect that hundreds of amendments will disappear. I do not speak for the sponsors and have not discussed this with them, but the fact is that the amendments will not be needed because we have the clarity that we need on the issues raised and have gone well beyond that. I am not saying we have done Second Reading again, but we have dealt with the really meaty part of the Bill. I am not devaluing the rest of the Bill, but this is the meaty part of it. Therefore, we can get to Report quickly.
