Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

As the noble Lord, Lord Empey, has said more than once, we need to know the colour of the sponsor’s money. At the moment, we do not. We do not have a clue. It has to be done within our scrutiny process, by seeing the amendments. I saw the letter three days ago that was then transposed into a set of supplementary amendments that were all starred and so were not available for today’s debate. They could have been tabled earlier in the week. But even if they had fitted into our programme, they were not available because they were tabled only yesterday. That is just not good enough. If the sponsor is prepared to move, we can get to the point where we can speed up the process of the Bill.
