Speaking in the House of Lords on 30 January 2026

Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

I fully accept that in the last 14 years that has not always been the case. The point is that if it went wrong and we ended up with some foolhardy attempt to use the Parliament Act, all the Henry VIII powers in the Bill—which should come out—will be legislated for by the House of Commons. It would be absolutely preposterous.
