Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
Instead of thorough line-by-line scrutiny, the Bill will now be subjected to two days of politicking. Rather than weeks of line-by-line scrutiny, where we could have come together to make the legislation work, we have the pantomime of the Chamber. It is simply impossible to give proper consideration to in excess of 300 amendments and new clauses in two days of often partisan debate. How could anyone expect such a process to deliver workable legislation that commands confidence across the various communities and stakeholders?
