Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
In spite of those challenges, I have brought forward and support amendments that would rectify three key shortcomings of the Bill: protection for veterans, promotion of reconciliation, and ensuring proper oversight of the Secretary of State’s power to block disclosure of information. Veterans are at the heart of the Liberal Democrat approach to the Bill—they include victims, of course. I am immensely grateful for the continued support and engagement of the Royal British Legion and the SAS Regimental Association, which have helped ensure that the amendments I have tabled will deliver the protections that veterans need.
