At the heart of every conversation I have had with veterans’ associations has been the fear of such repeated investigations, where process becomes the punishment. Safeguarding veterans when they are being interviewed by the legacy commission is vital, but as it stands, the Government’s amendments do not protect veterans from being repeatedly dragged into court, and in some cases, facing decades of uncertainty.
