Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
The Irish Government commissioned the Nally report in 2002, and it reported in 2004. It exonerated An Garda Síochána; they knew nothing. That is another report where no mention was made of the call that came in. But it will come out in the Omagh inquiry that An Garda Síochána did ask about these calls in 2002. A catalogue of information was presented to the boul Jennings: Dermot Jennings, Garda Jennings—the holder of truths and the keeper of dark secrets, somebody who did not give that information over to Nuala O’Loan or to the Nally report. He was the keeper of secrets—the man who knew who was stealing the cars, not just for the bombing campaign in Omagh, but in 17 incidents in the run-up to it. He was the man who had the information and could have prevented such a loss of life, and didn’t—and when he had the chance to share it, though it would have been embarrassing for his Government, he didn’t do so either.
