Northern Ireland Troubles Bill

Contribution

As I have said before, I welcome the changes that the Secretary of State and the Defence Secretary have proposed, outlined in their letter of 12 October. I think they make a bad Bill better. I welcome the six new protections announced in September last year, but they are not enough. This Bill allows paramilitaries, particularly the IRA and its confederates, to continue the rewriting of the history of these islands to their entire satisfaction. However unwittingly, it promotes lawfare and damages our national security.
