Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
In this place, national security is one of our prime imperatives. It must be the prime imperative of the Government, particularly when this country faces the threats that it does currently. We know that people are leaving the special forces right now. We have heard from people associated with the special forces who fear that this extraordinary part of our national defence will be degraded at a time when we are facing hybrid threats from Russia and other players. I think that is germane to this argument. The hon. and gallant Member for Birmingham Selly Oak mentioned the financial cost of a lot of the things we are debating. Well, the national security costs need to be borne firmly in mind too. I agreed with every single word of the hon. and gallant Member’s remarks.
