Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
I also want to talk about a group of campaigners who reached out to me ahead of this debate: the Birmingham pub bombing families—Julie and those other incredible campaigners. I feel it is remiss of us, whenever we have this discussion, if we do not pay tribute to their calls for a public inquiry. On that point, like so many others, I want to mention Michael Gallagher; in the last weeks, he has suffered a stroke due to the stress and pressure of participating in the Omagh bombing inquiry—although he would still participate in it every day of his life. His example brings home the stress and pressure that everybody in Northern Ireland lives with.
