Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
That duty must apply fully in Northern Ireland. Families there know the pain of losing loved ones and spending decades seeking answers from the state. They know what it means to suspect that the state may have concealed, enabled or colluded in the wrongdoing that they are trying to understand. They deserve the same candour and assistance as any other family, and their right to truth must carry equal weight. We cannot ask families to trust new proceedings while leaving uncertainty about whether those holding the evidence must assist them.
About Hansard
Hansard is the official verbatim record of proceedings in the UK Parliament. Every word spoken in the Commons and Lords is recorded and published — this page is a single contribution from that record.
