We must ensure that this legislation does not repeat the failures of the past, that the search for truth is not obstructed by those responsible for providing it and that no family are left wondering whether the state has again put its interests before their right to justice. The Government must honour their promise to these families. They must deliver accountability, uphold human rights and ensure that the truth can no longer be withheld behind the power of the state. This Bill must honour the families.
