Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
Briefly, I want to address amendment 4, in the name of the hon. Member for South Antrim (Robin Swann). Sexual crimes—rape and sexual assault—are a well-documented instrument of war and conflict. There has not been a war or conflict where it has not been used. It has no boundaries, whether it involves members of the same or different communities, or members of security forces. It is not on. The tactic is inherently shrouded in silence and shame. It is intended to silence and to shame, and we cannot let it go without recognition.
