Northern Ireland Troubles Bill

Contribution

The Omagh bombing inquiry continues, and the evidence heard last week raises stark questions for the Irish authorities—the authorities that this Government are placing so much trust in and pandering to. The inquiry heard about a warning call received at Finner Camp in County Donegal before the bombing. The caller urged that the Irish police and the security forces in Northern Ireland be informed and patrols deployed. The message ended with the words, “Omagh, Omagh, Omagh”. We should ensure tonight that we do not continue to retraumatise the victims of the Omagh atrocity by not agreeing to amendment 23.
