Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
My colleagues on the Committee and those of us with family and friends in this wonderful part of our country have heard at first hand the fear in the streets, the loss of loved ones, the sense of lives put on hold and the depravity of war. Those conversations have influenced the amendments tabled by my hon. Friend the Member for Gower and our Committee colleagues. I have also heard the resilience and compassion of the decent people who call Northern Ireland home. This is important, and there must never be any rewriting of history: there is no equivalence between those who served to protect life in our armed forces and security services, and the terrorist organisations that set out to kill people.
