Northern Ireland Troubles BillContribution
We cannot build reconciliation on concealment and secrets. We have tried that for the last three decades, and it did not work. We cannot ask families just to accept that the truth is too uncomfortable when the truth is about the death of their loved ones, and we cannot get to the other side of this ugly period without, unfortunately, going through it. This legislation, like this commission, is not perfect, but it is the last and best chance for those families, from all backgrounds, to try to move forward, and we commend it to the House.
