Northern Ireland Troubles Bill

The Government cannot say that they will defend to the nth degree—this was upheld in the Dillon judgment—the claim that the processes for everybody else are compliant, and then keep a select few inquest cases. The Secretary of State knows the danger of that, yet has not taken steps to deal with it. I tabled amendment 32, alongside my colleagues, to starkly illustrate the point that if this House wants protections that are intended to assist veterans and members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, then it can have them. But we will see.
