Northern Ireland Troubles Bill

New clause 7 is an important reporting function. We heard Members chastise one another in Committee yesterday; some suggested that the clause would have a damaging and destabilising impact on the recruitment of our armed forces; others said that was nonsense, and that our armed forces had never been so healthy. I am not sure that there are many in this Chamber who would agree that our armed forces have never been so healthy. There should be no fear of new clause 7; it is there to assist us all. It does not pretend that the world is as we would like it to be; it is about the world as it actually is.
