Northern Ireland Troubles Bill

Contribution

In my part of the world, in Fareham and Waterlooville, and in Gosport, Portsmouth, Aldershot and Hampshire we have thousands of brave veterans and serving personnel. Many of them have spoken to me about their real concerns about the Bill. The truth is that many people from the veterans community—in fact, all of them—come from good, traditional, patriotic families. They are people who believe in standing up for what they believe in, and they believe that this Bill and this Government are betraying those values, targeting them unfairly and persecuting them through legalese, lawyers and lawfare, unfairly and unjustifiably. It is a slap in the face and, frankly, the contents of the Bill move the goal posts and make it an incredibly unfair piece of legislation.
