My Amendment 59 seeks to enable having more than one commissioner for a single area of competence. For example, a mayor may wish to have flexibility in having the responsibility for public safety split across more than one commissioner role, or more than one commissioner responsible for a particular area, such as transport policy. This change would be consistent with how the Bill already enables a public safety commissioner role in addition to deputy mayors for police and crime.
