Speaking in the House of Lords on 26 January 2026

Pension Schemes BillContribution
That framing brings me directly to Amendments 111A and 122, tabled by the noble Baroness, Lady Bowles. As she explained most powerfully, with references to those involved in the accord, the approach taken in the Bill has no clear or translatable link to the Mansion House Accord. These amendments seek to restore that link by aligning the provisions in the Bill with the accord’s definition of UK private markets, by focusing on the underlying assets. I will not rehearse those arguments again, as they have been made so well by both the noble Baronesses, Lady Bowles and Lady Altmann. By the way, I hugely appreciated the speeches of my noble friends Lord Remnant and Lord Fuller and others.
