I hope that the sponsors of the Bill will be persuaded of the benefits of the additional measures that we propose, which no doubt can be improved even further through dialogue before Report, not least with those who have concerns about the Bill. I conclude by asserting that we should put no obstacle in the way of someone of sound mind, of a settled view, in deep distress, with death imminent, being allowed a dignified ending to their life on earth, at a moment of their choosing.
