39A: Clause 1, page 1, line 14, at end insert— “(1A) Assistance may be provided only under this Act where the person has demonstrably understood—(a) their diagnosis,(b) their prognosis,(c) their treatment options, (d) any inherent uncertainties in the assisted dying process, and(e) any known risks and likely complications of the approved substance.”Member’s explanatory statement This amendment seeks to strengthen the Bill’s informed consent requirements by ensuring that a patient’s understanding must be demonstrated, rather than assumed.
