To conclude, a long-term strategic vision is not merely a matter of academic interest; it is essential if Parliament is to assess whether the powers contained in the Bill are proportionate to the ends they are intended to serve. Industry participants and pension savers alike wish to understand the direction of travel—that is a fair point to make. The Minister and her department are set to oversee a sustained period of pensions policy reform, as she said, so it would be helpful to know how they view the horizon ahead as that programme continues to evolve. Therefore, we will continue to press this issue during the different stages of this Bill as it proceeds through this House, but for the moment I beg leave to withdraw my amendment.
