LGPS funds represent a source of long-term investment that can contribute to resolving the affordable housing crisis, while at the same time creating a sustainable source of returns on pension investment. My noble friend’s probing amendment provides an opportunity to consider whether and how the Bill can be used as a means of enabling LGPS assets to be invested to provide specifically for social housing.
