If the amendment in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Carlile, were accepted, how many cases do the Government anticipate the family courts would deal with? The noble Baroness, Lady O’Loan, suggested 15,000, which is based on a projection that comes from the promoter of the Bill in the other place. Do the Government believe that is accurate, and if not, why not? The promoter of the Bill in the other place suggested that each of those hearings might take about two hours. Is that correct, and on what basis was that judgment made by the promoter of the Bill? What is the Government’s view?
