Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

There are currently 4,000 children in public and private law cases that have been open for longer than 100 weeks. What impact would the amendment in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Carlile, have on that backlog? At the moment, as I am sure noble Lords are aware, 1,000 new cases enter the family court every week, and the length of time to undertake those cases is rising by 36%. What impact on those numbers would the amendment in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Carlile, have?
