My next point flows from the excellent contribution from the noble and learned Baroness, Lady Butler-Sloss, who is, as she said, one of the Members of this House with experience of hearing these very difficult cases. I was struck by what she said about courts being very able to make these prioritisation decisions in these cases. By necessity, these cases will always be of a certain level of urgency, given the six-month prognosis. The problem is that that has an important consequence: these cases are then prioritised over other cases and, if there is a fixed level of resource in the system, other people’s interests are downgraded.
