Speaking in the House of Lords on 9 January 2026

Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

It is important that I do not stray into too many of the 16 clause stand part notices without further speaking to my amendment, but I was interested to hear why, in particular, four noble Lords oppose Clause 37 standing part—not only the noble Lord, Lord Carlile, but my noble friend Lord Goodman, the noble Lord, Lord Rooker, and the noble Baroness, Lady Hollins. I will be interested to understand from the sponsor why he thinks that that is the right way forward and perhaps from those noble Lords who do not believe that clause should stand part what worries them about that clause.
