Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

I was grateful that the Government Whip said that the Minister would answer some of the questions that have been outlined. Candidly, so far, Ministers have refused to answer any Written Questions or freedom of information requests about exactly where the Government, Ministers and officials have got involved to try to help this Bill work. That has been one of the frustrations and, indeed, one of the reasons why so many amendments are being tabled to try to tease out what is going on. How is this going to work? Why did the Government not want this to happen? Why do they want to do it a different way? Why is doing it in regulations better?
