This amendment does not take sides in the litigation. It respects the court, respects Parliament and respects the principle that irreversible legislation should not be rushed through while its legality is actively being tested. I therefore urge noble Lords to support this amendment, not as a political gesture, but as a statement of constitutional responsibility. Let us pause, wait for the judgment and legislate with our eyes fully open. I commend the amendment to the House.
