The IRDC report also highlighted that several respondents born on the islands felt that their age or health may prevent them from returning to the islands. Meanwhile, the Dunne review, which provides a quantitative analysis of the entire body of Chagossian respondents to the IRDC survey, extrapolates that a majority of participants—51%—would exercise the opportunity to resettle under Mauritian sovereignty. Of this total, 93% of native Mauritian Chagossians and 50% of non-natives expressed a desire to resettle.
