We need to be very clear that this treaty provides the only viable path to resettlement on the archipelago. Successive British Governments have never been prepared to do this and those who seek to stymie the passage of this Bill offer no viable alternative, thereby doing a disservice to all those Chagossians who want to see the possibility of resettlement become a reality.
