Diego Garcia Military Base and British Indian Ocean Territory BillContribution
On Amendment 49 and the specific question that the noble Baroness asked me, I can reassure her on India and Mauritius. It is not true that India has paid for a presence on the Chagos Islands—that is not correct. Both have confirmed that it was a renewal of previous agreements on an Indian satellite station on the Mauritius mainland. I hope that answers the specific question that the noble Baroness quite rightly asked and clarifies the point she raised.
