However, we must do more to close the gap to 1.5 degrees. Recognising the urgency of action, it was agreed in the final COP 30 text that all countries had to play a part to keep 1.5 degrees within reach, that this required us to meet net zero as a world by or around the middle of the century, and that all countries should be encouraged to raise their targets. There will now be a forward process into COP 31 next year, so we remain focused on the urgency of this issue.
