I recognise that the Bill already accepts the risk of financial benefit by prohibiting anyone who is a beneficiary under a will, or who may otherwise benefit financially or materially from the death, from serving as an assessing doctor or witness, but I doubt that is sufficient, even with the mandatory training that is already encompassed within the Bill. It is not clear how a doctor, even with financial abuse training as required, is meant to carry out that investigation, especially given that they cannot audit a patient or be expected to have accounting knowledge.
