Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) BillContribution
However, my noble friend underestimates the step change that the Bill makes, which is the whole difference. The Bill allows someone else to play a part in intentionally ending another person’s life—something that is unknown and not part of our law unless the Bill is passed. That is why I say to my noble friend, who is a fantastic lawyer and a good friend, that he underestimates the importance of what one might describe as the emotional reaction to the Bill but is actually much more like what the noble Lord, Lord Deben, so skilfully described. He and my noble friend Lady O’Loan put their finger on the reason why we have to find something to strengthen the Bill on these issues.
