Another example is very much from my own experience. Many years ago, I prosecuted the case of a matron—I think that was the term used in those days—of a very nice residential home, in a very nice town, in a very nice place in lovely north Wales. She inherited what was then a huge sum of £80,000 by fraudulently persuading one of her residents to change her will. That was done by “kindness”. We are dealing with something that is very difficult to detect. For every case that goes to a criminal or civil court, that kind of “kindness” has been done 20, 30 or 100 times and is not detected. That is why we need the language in the Bill to ensure that it can be detected, particularly because of the step change in the relationship to death that the Bill brings about.
