Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

As I have said, I do not think we are going to solve this problem by going through 30-odd amendments in Committee. I say to the noble and learned Lord, let us have a debate about whether words are needed— I think it is clear that the great majority of Members taking part in these debates believe some words are needed—and then let us not develop that debate for too long. We spent three hours a week ago talking about the difference between “ability” and “capacity”. I was so depressed that eventually I had to go out for a coffee break. I think we need to avoid that sort of elongated and depressing debate.
