Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

As for caregivers, 10% of domestic violence abuse cases are perpetrated by someone with a caring responsibility. A Carers UK report from this year said that 53% of carers feel resentment towards those that they care for. At the same time, they are portrayed externally as kind and self-sacrificing. When a disabled family member with a terminal illness suggests wanting to end their life, a frustrated carer, experiencing high levels of resentment and burden, may fail to explore alternatives or may subtly communicate that ending the person’s life would alleviate their burden.
