Briefly, in closing, the second amendment that I strongly support is the one tabled by the noble Baroness, Lady Grey-Thompson, about people’s circumstances and the support they get. Noble Lords will remember from Second Reading that I am particularly motivated in my concerns about the Bill by my experience of having been the Minister for Disabled People. One of the things I recognise is that people’s decision-making can be affected by the support they get. First, I want to make sure that organs of the state are not less likely to provide someone with the support they need to live well and to live a good life because there is this alternative of assisted suicide. Secondly, I want that person who is trying to make an informed decision to have access to that support to live a good life and to live well. If they do not have that, they are not making an informed, properly autonomous choice; they are being pressured and forced into doing so because their choices are limited.
