Regardless of our class, age or background, rape has always been part of our story as women. It is a part the Government are hearing, not shying away from and not ignoring because it is too difficult. Instead, the Government are choosing to use the law to acknowledge that this is happening: protecting victims without retraumatising; automatically removing parental responsibility where there is a conviction of rape; and also saying that we believe you, even without conviction, giving a court the power to take action where it sees that this is a child probably conceived from rape.
