Victims and Courts Bill

“They won’t do it. They will let me down. They won’t believe me. They’ll see that what happened was my fault, that I asked for it, that it was my behaviour that caused this. That the worst thing imaginable happened and I only have myself to blame. That the rape grew inside me until I had to part with it by giving birth, a birth I have repeated nightmares about. It’s been so tough raising my child as a loving mother, even though I struggle with the fact that that child exists. If you change the law today, that will be incredible. It means I can use the law to keep me and my baby safe. It might even mean I can finally report it.”
