Victims and Courts Bill

Contribution

The Minister will know there have been different clauses: one that was first put forward by the Conservatives in government; the initial clause from the current Government; and this further clause. The Minister will also know that our further clause would remove the four-year requirement and have it apply more widely to any sexual offence. My hon. Friend put forward yet another way that we might better prescribe those subject to these measures beyond those convicted of offences with a sentence of four years or more. Although I appreciate that this is a novel measure, if it proves effective in practice we would welcome the opportunity to revisit it in future and see how we might better frame it to protect children.
