I rise to present a petition on behalf of residents of Coventry South regarding Coventry city council’s contract with Palantir. More than 3,900 people have signed a related online petition. In September 2025, Coventry city council awarded Palantir a contract worth £500,000 to provide AI-related services in children’s services. The contract was renewed in February 2026 at a cost of £750,000, a 50% increase, bringing the total to £1.25 million. There are serious concerns about Palantir’s involvement in military and immigration operations, including providing surveillance infrastructure to the Israeli Government, which are committing genocide in Palestine, as well as the handling of sensitive personal data and the growing privatisation of our public services. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urge the Government to call on Coventry city council to terminate its contract with Palantir, to consult residents and trade unions and to ensure transparency, accountability and democratic public control over the use of data in our public services. Following is the full text of the petition: [The petition of residents of the constituency Coventry South, Declares that Coventry City Council has renewed a £750,000 contract with the US firm Palantir for children’s services; further declares that there are serious concerns about Palantir’s involvement in military and immigration operations, including its provision of data surveillance infrastructure to the Israeli government, which is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, the handling of sensitive personal data, and the increasing role of private technology companies in public services; and further declares that Coventry residents, council staff and recognised trade unions should have a meaningful say in decisions concerning the use of AI and data in local public services before a contract is agreed and renewed. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urge the Government to call on Coventry City Council to terminate its contract with Palantir; consult residents and recognised trade unions on future AI and data decisions; and ensure transparency, accountability and democratic public control over the use of data in Coventry’s public services. And the petitioners remain, etc.] [P003257]
