25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OCCUPATION OF NORTHERN CYPRUS

Motion Text

That this House notes with deep regret that 20th July marks the 25th anniversary of the occupation of parts of Cyprus by Turkey; acknowledges the plight of the hundreds of thousands of refugees created by this occupation; extends its particular sympathy to those refugees currently resident in the United Kingdom; calls on Her Majesty's Government to reiterate to the Turkish government its total abhorrence of this occupation; further calls on Her Majesty's Government to use its influence in the international community to bring about a just solution; and looks forward to the day when there is a free, united Cyprus.
